About Us
Step into a leadership role in our state‑of‑the‑art 48‑bed rehab unit! We are looking for a dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to lead our team. We are committed to delivering the highest standards of patient‑centred care and evidence‑based rehabilitative care.
Key Responsibilities
* Reporting to the Head of Clinical Services and holding accountability for SLT provision to all clients within our rehabilitation centre.
* Leading and managing a specialist SLT team in a brand new state‑of‑the‑art rehabilitation centre.
* Providing specialist dysphagia assessment and intervention, and highly skilled communication assessment for acquired brain injury and other neurological conditions.
* Delivering 1:1 and group SLT sessions, creating accessible communication and swallowing guidance for the wider MDT.
* Conducting mental capacity assessments independently or jointly with other professionals.
* Managing the client journey, coordinating care and discharge packages, and acting as a single point of contact for families.
* Advocating on behalf of clients in reports, CHC forms and complex DST meetings.
* Working closely with the multidisciplinary team and external agencies, contributing to service development, quality improvement and clinical audit.
* Providing clinical supervision, expert advice and training to SLT staff and students.
* Overseeing recruitment and management of the SLT team, including sickness absence, performance and appraisal processes.
* Supporting reflective practice and continuing professional development within the team.
Qualifications
* Degree in Speech & Language Therapy.
* Additional training in Dysphagia.
* Ongoing CPD record relevant to TBI.
* Membership with the RCSLT.
* Registration with HCPC.
Experience
* Experience with adult neurologically impaired adults.
* Experience working with carers.
Knowledge and Skills
* Strong literacy and numeracy.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
* Decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
* Excellent clinical skills and knowledge of neuro speech and language therapy.
* Ability to manage a small SLT team.
* Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication.
Eligibility and Legal Requirements
The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
