Wood is currently recruiting for Principal Automation Engineer with Safety Integrated System (SIS) experience to support across various high-profile projects in the UK. The Automation Engineer will join our Systems Integration team within our Digital Consulting business. This role will be required to do a 3-month rotation to Sullom Voe on a 2 on 2 off basis from January 2026. This role is available on a hybrid basis with Tuesday and Wednesday to be in one of the following hub office locations: Aberdeen, Glasgow or Staines The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Automation Engine er to support our Systems Integration (SI) team with all aspects of automation engineering related to Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) specialising in the Honeywell Safety Management SC. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional looking to contribute to a dynamic, international project team within a global service line. The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in automation and controls, specifically within SIS environments, and will be motivated by solving complex technical challenges for our clients. You will play a key role in delivering high-impact projects, driving continuous improvement across performance metrics including margin, customer satisfaction, schedule adherence, working capital, and safety. Expected: Bachelor's degree or a master's degree in an engineering discipline Previous experience with Safety Instrument System (SIS) and Honeywell Safety Manager SC Previous experience working in a project delivery environment Previous experience and competency in Automation and Control Engineering Previous experience in writing software specifications Detailed experience with multiple system implementation projects and / or control system platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, Honeywell Previous experience of Microsoft SQL A sound understanding of engineering practices, methodologies and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, international codes and standards, procedures, and specifications Knowledge of modern automation and control applications, tools, methodologies Strong planning, organising and execution skills Desirable: Professional Engineer or engineering chartership preferred Rockwell PLC and SCADA systems experience Experience of Inductive Automation Ignition SCADA A good understanding of system networks, previous experience on Control Logix, Guard Logix, who can support hardware engineering if required Functional Safety certification TUV FSEng or equivalent
