As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You will be responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Working within the Data Analytics team, you will be responsible for applications that store large amounts of cross-asset market data using KDB technology for real-time and historical access. This is an exciting time as we migrate to AWS, re-architect our applications, and build out greenfield projects.
Job responsibilities
* Execute creative software solutions, design, develop, and troubleshoot technically with the ability to think beyond routine approaches to build solutions or solve technical problems.
* Develop secure, high-quality production code, review, and debug code written by others.
* Identify opportunities to automate or eliminate recurring issues to improve operational stability.
* Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and use of new technologies.
* Contribute to team culture of equity, respect, and collaboration.
* Develop core systems and frameworks based on KDB.
* Lead team members through project management, SDLC, testing, and continuous improvement of coding standards.
* Develop scalable real-time processing solutions using agile methodology.
* Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
* Collaborate with application support teams for platform maintenance and support.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
* Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and advanced practical experience.
* Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
* Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
* Understanding of all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
* Advanced knowledge of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
* Development lead experience including requirements gathering, task decomposition, estimation, planning, and testing.
* Deep understanding of KDB technology and Q, with at least 7 years of professional experience using KDB and 2+ years in a leadership role.
* Understanding of KDB+tick design and data organization, with practical experience in query optimization, scaling, load balancing, and building resilient applications.
Additional qualifications, capabilities, and skills
* Experience with market data venues and vendor data platforms.
* AWS experience.
* Experience with Terraform and Kubernetes in managing production environments in the cloud.
* Proficiency in Python, C, C++, or Java.
