About the Role
You will play a crucial role in improving mental health outcomes for our service users by bringing a distinctive social and rights‑based perspective to the work you do and promoting this within the multi‑disciplinary team and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with people to facilitate positive, self‑directed change and support them toward recovery as defined by them.
* Provide advocacy support, recognizing the role of carers and working in partnership to support them, especially at times of crisis.
* Carry out statutory social care assessments under the Care Act and Section 117 after‑care Mental Health Act, delivering strengths‑based, rights‑focused assessments to identify and meet needs and ensure timely review of support packages.
* Address complexity and risk by applying safeguarding adults knowledge to identify abuse and neglect and coordinate with the person and other agencies to protect and safeguard them.
* Apply legislative frameworks such as the Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act to support people who are unable to make decisions for themselves while balancing and protecting their rights.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience working as an inpatient or community social worker.
* Interest in transforming the lives of people with mental health conditions.
* Newly qualified social workers are welcome for a Band 5 development post.
* Ability to work in a higher level post‑qualifying professional development setting and participate in the ASYE programme.
* Successful completion of statutory and mandatory training related to the role.
* References covering at least 3 years of employment or study (the trust will obtain satisfactory references).
