Chief Engineer GM Salary (£): Competitive Quantity Surveyor

LET’S CUT STRAIGHT TO IT
We’re looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Property team. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that our technical supplier expenditure (c. £m) delivers the best value for money. Working alongside another QS you will agree final accounts and assess on-site work value for money.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Audit contractor payment applications against the National Schedule of Rates and resolve queries promptly.
2. Provide accurate reports on committed spend, accruals, and savings for senior leadership.
3. Certify payments and maintain detailed breakdowns of jobs and outstanding claims.
4. Conduct physical audits on at least % of high-value work instructions.
5. Manage competitive tenders for major works (, road replacements, refurbishments, new builds).
6. Prepare detailed designs and evaluate contractor submissions to ensure best value.
You'll be based out of our head office in Coventry within our Property team.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
7. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on civil engineering and building projects (water industry experience desirable).
8. Strong commercial and engineering background with professional qualifications (RICS, CIPS, or equivalent).
9. Experience working with the NSR
10. Skilled in managing contracts, suppliers, and tenders.
11. Highly numerate with excellent analytical and IT skills (SAP, Excel, etc.).
12. Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
13. Hold a full driving licence.
