MWH Treatment is experiencing significant growth, and we are looking to strengthen our Planning Team with the recruitment of a Project Planner/Planning Engineer for our Severn Trent region.
Role Responsibilities
The role reports directly to the Planning Manager, with core responsibilities including building, updating, amending, and reporting Project Programmes using Primavera P6 software. Working with Senior Planners, we offer coaching and guidance for your ongoing development into a planning expert and to help drive team performance. The key responsibilities include:
* Supporting Project Managers and Teams by delivering high-quality, detailed P6 Programmes to facilitate efficient project delivery.
* Developing and maintaining project plans using reliable project management methodologies, ensuring baseline schedules are established.
* Enabling project management to control contract progress by producing integrated programmes covering design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover, monitoring performance against plans, and identifying issues early.
* Helping the project team minimize risks by identifying the critical path for projects.
* Supporting project and programme reporting to enhance business planning information and intelligence.
* Leading the planning aspect during project progress review meetings.
Role Location
This position supports projects across the large Severn Trent Region. It requires regular in-person support at project sites and visits to the Regional Office in Derby. The ability to drive and travel is essential, with allowances and benefits included. The team balances workloads with remote working flexibility, depending on project needs.
Essential Experience
Candidates must have:
* Project planning experience on various project sizes.
* Proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project.
* Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Relevant professional qualifications for a Planner role.
* Basic understanding of NEC contracts and project planning requirements.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Beneficial skills include:
* Experience in infrastructure or water industries.
* Experience preparing project review presentations and stakeholder engagement.
* Background in construction, civil engineering, M&E, or related fields.
* Academic qualifications in construction or infrastructure.
* Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools.
* Project management experience.
