The Role
We are seeking a Design and Technology Technician to provide practical and technical support within the Design and Technology curriculum. Working under the direction of teaching staff, the role focuses on preparing resources, maintaining specialist equipment, supporting pupils during lessons and ensuring a safe, well-organised workshop environment. The technician plays an important role in enabling effective teaching and learning through reliable technical and practical support.
What We’re Looking For
1. Experience of providing technical or resource-based support in a relevant setting
2. Knowledge of Design and Technology and the safe use of tools and equipment
3. Awareness of health and safety legislation, including COSHH and PUWER
4. Ability to prepare, maintain and manage specialist resources and materials
5. Good numeracy, literacy and ICT skills
6. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with young people and adults
7. NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) or relevant practical experience
8. A willingness to support the work of other departments in the school
Terms and conditions: 20 hours per week during term time only, although there may be an opportunity for additional hours during school holidays. The distribution of the 20 hours may change from one school year to the next depending on the timetable.
