Autism & SEND Support Role
Milk Education is offering an exciting opportunity for Psychology Graduates who are looking to start or progress a career within education and child development. This Learning Support Assistant position places you in a vibrant and inclusive school setting, where you will support pupils with Autism and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
This role provides valuable, practical experience for graduates interested in educational psychology, social work, therapy, or other child-focused professions. You will work closely with students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within a structured and supportive environment.
Psychology Graduate – Main Duties:
1. Deliver personalised support to pupils with Autism, learning needs, and other SEND.
2. Support the delivery of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and positive behaviour strategies.
3. Encourage emotional wellbeing, social skills, and academic development through structured activities.
4. Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals to support inclusive learning.
5. Assist with personal care where required (training provided).
6. Track and record pupil progress, sharing observations with teaching staff and parents.
7. Help create a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
Psychology Graduate – Person Specification:
8. A Psychology degree or related qualification is desirable but not essential.
9. Previous experience with children or young people with SEND or Autism is beneficial but not required.
10. A strong interest in supporting children with additional needs.
11. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
12. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
13. Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team.
14. An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
