Consultant Psychiatrist – Intellectual Disability, Pennine Lancashire (10PA)

This post is eligible for a 5% payment of basic salary payable over 2 years.
Role details
This post is a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist position, working as part of the Community Intellectual Disability teams in Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale (BPR) and Hyndburn/Ribble Valley (HRV). The post is full time (10 PAs) and newly created, to work alongside and be supported by the Specialist Doctor across Pennine, primarily based in Blackburn. There is no On Call commitment for this post.
* Full-time substantive Consultant Psychiatrist.
* Based in Blackburn with responsibilities across BPR, HRV and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
* Assessment and treatment of people with learning disabilities with additional mental health difficulties, including mental illness, autism, challenging behaviour and forensic needs, referred to the learning disability service.
* Assessment of patients referred to the service at service users’ homes and in clinic.
* Advice and consultancy to the Community Learning Disability Team and other colleagues.
* Support, including supervision where appropriate to non-medical prescribing colleagues, including nurse prescribers.
Requirements
* Full GMC registration and inclusion on the Specialist Register of the GMC or eligibility for entry to the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.
* Section 12 Approved at the time of commencing employment and have or be eligible to have Approved Clinician Status.
Remuneration and benefits
* Remuneration as set out in the terms of the New Consultant Contract according to previous experience.
* At least 2.5 SPAs as standard for a full-time post (flexible to support other activities).

* Study leave budget of £3,000 over 3 years or up to £5,000 over 3 years for newly qualified Consultants.
* Opportunities to be a clinical supervisor.

Development and support
We are keen to develop our Consultant workforce in a flexible way, supporting special interests and development areas. The Trust’s Medical Education department supports Consultants in becoming Clinical & Educational Supervisors. There are opportunities to take on Digital Leadership roles for interested Consultants.
