Job Title: Prep Paint Technician
Manpower is currently recruiting for a Prep Paint Technician for a prestigious client based in Birmingham. This is a temporary ongoing position with an immediate start, paying £19.23 per hour.
Role Overview
The Prep Paint Technician plays a vital role in our business. The main responsibilities include:
* Ensuring motor vehicle repairs are carried out to manufacturer standards.
* Performing work efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively while maintaining vehicle quality and safety.
* Applying knowledge and skills to restore vehicles to industry-recognized standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspecting, recognizing, and reporting on vehicle structure and paintwork.
* Ensuring vehicles meet safety standards upon return to customers, with faults reported on the job card.
* Removing and safely storing vehicle components, fluids, and gases as per work orders.
* Removing and disposing of vehicle components and fluids safely.
* Performing quality control on repairs and signing off at final stages.
* Reporting any faults or defects noticed during work.
* Reading, understanding, and displaying repair methods in the job pack (e-scribe, manufacturer, or other sources).
* Interpreting and implementing technical service instructions.
* Ordering replacement parts and recording their usage.
* Applying paint repairs accurately using mixing schemes, spray booths, and drying lamps.
* Ensuring vehicles comply with safety standards and recording faults appropriately.
* Applying topcoat to manufacturer specifications.
* Preparing repaired areas for painting as directed.
Skills and Experience
* Experience in prep and polish work within an automotive bodyshop environment.
* Knowledge of sanding, masking, priming, and polishing techniques.
* Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.
* Attention to detail and a passion for flawless finishes.
* Proactive team player attitude.
