Job Description
We are currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer at our Bakery at Millerdale working 48 hours per week, Night shift (6pm - 6am), 4 on 4 off.
The Role:
You will be responsible for Planned Maintenance, reacting to breakdowns, fault finding on a range of filling, packing machinery (mechanically) and size changes to include guidance of the production equipment on site at Millerdale.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To provide general maintenance for all production related equipment following closely the Company rules on Health and Safety, Quality and Engineering Procedures
2. To ensure all PPM’s are completed on time as part of Engineering Department Targets
3. Ensuring breakdowns are rectified efficiently, while investigating root cause to prevent reoccurrence
4. To respond to ad hoc requests and/or take an active role in specific projects as directed by the Lead Engineer
5. To manage contractors associated with the maintenance and repairs of all equipment when required to do so whilst ensuring compliance to all aspects of the company Health & Safety policy and Factory Rules
6. To ensure compliance to all aspects of the Company Quality Policy and GMP with specific regard to the management of contractors.
7. To provide front line engineering support to the manufacturing operations following the Company rules on Health and Safety, Quality and Engineering Procedures.
8. To complete stores requisitions for parts and services.
9. To continually monitor plant conditions, capturing potential issues and report defects
10. To maintain a detailed log of all work carried out on plant using the appropriate Company systems.
11. To ensure that the Company is professionally represented at all times, both inside and outside the business.
12. To protect the health, safety and welfare of yourself and others at all times.
13. To take an active role in continuously developing your skills and knowledge through self-development activities and/or through attending Company organised training and development opportunities.
14. To undertake any other reasonable duties as may from time to time be required by the Company.
Minimum Skillset
15. Good general knowledge of pneumatic, electrical and large mechanical machinery
16. Good understanding, familiarity and experience of Packaging/Bagging equipment, Multihead Weighers, Checkweighers (Martini/Yamato/Multipond/Ishida etc.)
17. Good mechanical skills - knowledge of pneumatics, bearings, gearboxes
18. Welding skills in TIG/MIG
19. Thorough and ‘Right First Time’ approach to diagnostic, maintenance and repair work
20. Good bench fitting and metal fabrication skill set using mostly hand tools, drills, angle grinders etc. Ability to design and build simple ad-hoc machine parts from available materials if required
21. Working with single phase & three phase systems
22. Competent in electrical fault finding in panels, 3 phase motors, VFDs, relays, transformers, SMPS, Contactors, Wiring Harnesses etc.
23. Basic fault-finding knowledge of PLC's.
24. Ability to think laterally and find solutions to sudden production problems, quickly and safely
25. The ability to work independently when needed but also effectively as part of a small and close engineering team
