Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG) is looking for a skilled and empathetic Safeguarding Specialist to lead and support our safeguarding culture, policy, training and practice across the organisation.
About the Role
You'll be at the heart of our safeguarding function—working across teams to ensure best practice, compliance, and meaningful support for those at risk. From handling complex cases and facilitating reflective practice sessions to leading safeguarding training and overseeing our safer recruitment processes, this is a varied and rewarding role that blends strategic oversight with practical delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead safeguarding case management, including complex and high-risk cases
Provide expert advice and reflective supervision across teams
Coordinate and deliver safeguarding training and promote learning culture
Monitor compliance with safeguarding legislation, policy, and practice
Represent WCHG at multi-agency panels (e.g. MARAC) and strategic meetings
Develop procedures and training on topics including modern slavery, domestic abuse and exploitation
Oversee safer recruitment practices in partnership with HR and L&D
Monitor, analyse and report on safeguarding data, trends and performance
Coordinate the Safeguarding Working Group and support wider Living Well services
What We're Looking For
Experience in a safeguarding role within housing, social care or a statutory agency
Strong working knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice
Experience handling complex safeguarding cases and coaching others through risk and intervention planning
Ability to develop and deliver safeguarding training across all levels
Confident using data, writing reports, and influencing organisational practice
Excellent communication, partnership and people skills
Strong time management, resilience, and a flexible approach
Educated to degree level or with equivalent housing or social care qualifications
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
