Job Opportunity: Gear Cutter / Gear Grinder Location: Near Burton Upon Trent Hours: 40 per week - Mon-Thurs 7:00-16:00, Fri 7:00-13:00 Contract: 3 months, likely to be extended We are looking for an experienced gear cutter / gear grinder to join our team. This is not a general operator role-it requires an apprentice-trained or time-served gear cutting specialist with specific knowledge of gear manufacturing processes. The role involves setting, programming, and operating gear cutting and grinding machinery to produce precision components and ensure all work meets quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Set, program, and operate gear cutting machinery Read and interpret drawings, instructions, and procedures accurately Inspect and verify parts using precision measuring equipment Perform inspections of equipment, structures, materials, and products Troubleshoot and resolve issues to maintain quality standards Maintain a safe working environment and comply with Health, Safety & Environmental regulations Support 5S activities, report near misses, and ensure proper disposal of waste Undertake additional tasks within your skills and abilities as required Ideal Candidate: Recognised engineering qualification preferred Mechanically minded with strong practical skills and problem-solving ability Proficient in gear nomenclature and measurement techniques Experience with machines such as: TOS, Churchill, and Liebherr gear hobbing machines Barber Colman spline hobbing machine Pfauter CNC gear cutter and gear tooth grinder (Siemens 840 control) Magg gear tooth grinders (CNC, manual, or semi-automatic) Gear tooth rounding and deburring machines Candidates with any machinist background will also be considered Key Attributes: Self-motivated and proactive Able to work in a physically demanding environment Flexible and open-minded about prior experience
