About the Role
We are looking for a Network Construction Operative to work as part of a team and successfully deliver Mains Renewal construction activity for a specific site within one of the 4 regions (North, South, East and West).
As the Network Construction Operative, your key responsibility will be to ensure we provide good wholesome water with minimal disruption to our customers.
Responsibilities include:
* Undertake significant, large‑scale construction activity on‑site in a single location, involving excavation, installation, testing, and commissioning of new mains and assets.
* Ensure safe and efficient delivery of Mains Renewal large‑scale construction onsite activities, working as part of a team of 6 and focusing on water mains activity.
* Perform significant excavation activity, ensuring safety and security, and maintain domestic and commercial access.
* Install, test and commission new mains, assets, customer supply pipes and boundary boxes.
* Work a 42‑hour week, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, with a half‑hour early finish at 3:30 PM on Fridays.
* Identify and mitigate potential hazards and document findings in a daily dynamic risk assessment.
* Ensure safe location and timely removal of underground assets and disposal of asbestos.
* Provide customer support and updates throughout each DMA renewal, maintaining customer supply as per design.
* Implement trenchless solutions where possible to reduce cost and disruption.
* Standby is required.
Qualifications
For this role the right candidate will have:
* A full driving licence.
* National Water Hygiene and NRSWA certification.
* Significant experience working within the utility‑based industry.
* Good communication skills and the ability to build successful working relationships.
