We currently have a fantastic opportunity available for a Water Treatment Technician (Flexible) to join our team based in Tiverton.
You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a starting salary of £25,756. Following a successful competency review, your salary will rise to £28,747, plus a flexible working supplement of £6,197. In the development of this role, you will be supported with a Water Treatment Technician levels 1 to 5 progression scheme where you can receive up to £33,101.21 (basic) and £40,201.25 (total gross), plus overtime opportunities, company benefits + rewards.
Progression Scheme:
As part of your employment package, the successful candidate will enroll onto a bespoke progression scheme framework consisting of qualifications, skills, and experiences to meet the requirements of the nationally recognized Competent Technician Scheme. The Company will fully fund the entire £7,280 of the training costs associated with obtaining a number of industry-recognized professional qualifications and licenses, including a Level 3 Water Treatment Operations Diploma.
About the role:
As our Water Treatment Technician (Flexible), you will play a vital role in ensuring the operations of our water treatment site, associated plant, and equipment function effectively every day. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, have a dedicated team player philosophy, and be eager to contribute by providing clean water for our customers, ensuring water quality and quantity are maintained within high standards.
Due to the nature of the role, you will provide out-of-hours standby cover as part of the operational rotation to ensure the sites are maintained outside of regular hours. This role will have the use of a company vehicle to travel across the operational area within working hours and standby.
Shift Rotation:
The team is scheduled to work a 5-week rolling shift pattern, which you will need to be signed onto from day 1. The full shift pattern and non-working days can be discussed. The pattern below provides an indication of what this will look like.
· Week 1: Mon – Thurs 06:00 – 14:00. Fri 14:00 – 22:00 + Standby. Sat & Sun Standby + 7.4 hours between 08:00 – 20:00
· Week 2: Mon – Thurs 14:00 – 22:00 + Standby. Fri 08:00 – 15:30. Sat & Sun Off.
· Week 3: Mon & Tues Rest. Wed & Thurs 08:00 – 16:00. Fri 08:00 – 15:30. Sat & Sun Off
· Week 4: Mon – Fri 06:00 – 14:00. Sat & Sun Off
· Week 5: Mon – Thurs 08:00 – 16:00. Fri 08:00 – 15:30. Sat & Sun Off.
What You'll be Doing:
* Ensuring that potable water quality and quantity is maintained within company standards, considering abstraction licenses and distribution system requirements
* Storing, handling, and using chemicals safely, effectively, and economically, following company procedures
* Carrying out operational maintenance on equipment and instrumentation according to schedules and instructions
* Taking water quality samples and conducting on-site analysis as required
* Completing water quality and operational records/log sheets
* Performing routine and non-routine tasks as per operational needs
* Maintaining good housekeeping and ensuring the site is clean and tidy
* Dealing with abnormal events according to company procedures and reporting them appropriately
What We are Looking For:
* Essential
* A good level of Maths, English, and IT skills
* Understanding of COSHH, Lone Working procedures, and Basic First Aid
* Ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the business
* Sound judgment and decision-making skills in complex and high-pressure situations
* A Full UK Drivers Licence
* Desirable
* NVQ 2 in Operating Process Plant or a HNC in Water Operations, or working towards it
* Background in Mechanical, Electrical, ICA, or Scientific fields
* Experience in Water Treatment or relevant processes
