Overview
Reporting Sonographer required to join the Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust team. You will work independently to acquire and interpret diagnostic ultrasound images and issue clinical reports to referring clinicians. The role includes acute and elective general ultrasound scans and obstetric work, with some weekend requirements.
Responsibilities
* Perform designated ultrasound scans to departmental standards and follow protocols.
* Provide a Sonographer-led, diagnostic ultrasound imaging service for the Radiology department.
* Provide independent clinical opinion via the CRIS system, seeking senior advice when required for patient care pathways.
* Offer specialist training, mentoring and supervision for trainee advanced practitioners in postgraduate clinical ultrasound education.
* Assist in training and supervision for Ob/Gyn Registrars, radiology registrars and student radiographers.
* Supervise and assist clerical staff, support workers and student radiographers; provide clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team.
* Assist in appraisal and selection of ultrasound equipment for the Trust.
* Participate in a 7-day service, including emergency obstetrics and gynaecology scans on Bank holidays.
About Us
The Sonography team comprises 12 WTE Radiographer and Midwife Sonographers, performing around 30,000 examinations per annum. The service operates 11 ultrasound rooms across multiple sites and supports Acute medical, surgical, DVT, paediatric, Obstetric Gynaecology teams, GP, OP and IP services. There are specialist MSK and other imaging capabilities within the team.
Qualifications
Essential
* Qualified Reporting Sonographer
Desirable
* Specialist ultrasound qualification that would support the service
Experience
* Has recent experience with an NHS provider
* Experience in provision of independent reports
Other Requirements
* UK Registration with current professional status
* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as applicable
* Eligibility for Skilled Worker sponsorship where required
