LOCATION: Salford Media City – Hybrid
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £45,000 - £55,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.
Purpose of the Role
We are recruiting an Operations Manager for the Sound team working in Dock House-Media City. This team supports a wide range of styles and genres of radio output, both live and pre-recorded, in studios and on Outside Broadcasts and is broadcast on all the national radio networks.
We need a confident manager to represent this team with all the local stakeholders and make good connections across Media Operations, in Speech, Music and Location. You will work with 2 Operations Team leaders to ensure the most effective scheduling of this team and to ensure best use of staff skills, business efficiency and development for all the staff.
You will report to the Head of Operations (Sound) and be part of a department that is responsible for the technical and craft delivery of most of the content for National and World Service Radio.
Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
* Point of contact for production stakeholders
* Key liaison within Media Operations for all genres and types of operation
* Responsible for management, training, performance and development of staff in the team
* Ensure effective scheduling, efficiency and cost recovery
* Being part of the management team in Sound, contributing to its effective operation and strategy
Essential Criteria
* Extensive up-to-date operational knowledge and/or experience, including Outside Broadcasts
* Understanding of relevant programme systems and workflows
* Good interpersonal skills and experience of managing a team
* Knowledge and understanding of good scheduling process and practices
* Knowledge of Health and Safety, BBC standards and processes
* Good knowledge and understanding of how to provide output with high craft and technical values
* Self-Starting with proven ability to work on your own initiative
Desired But Not Required
* Good understanding of radio and visualised content and production ambition
* Ability to contribute to departmental and Media Operations strategy
* Excellent IT skills and understanding of BBC systems and processes
* Knowledge of employment and industrial relations legislation and policy
* Awareness of Editorial priorities and associated issues
