Description
We are looking to recruit a Wind Tunnel Systems Engineer to help lead, support and enhance our Wind Tunnel testing process. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Wind Tunnel Systems group and in the operation, maintenance, and continuous development of our Wind Tunnel here in Silverstone.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure efficient running through resolution of issues related to wind tunnel and model systems, testing process and test maps.
* Complete data output consultancy for Aero including map generation, data analysis, calibrations and systems trouble shooting.
* Work with other members of the wind tunnel team to progress project work around the testing programme.
* Continuously develop systems to meet the needs of the Aero department and the maximum uptime ethos.
* Regularly complete hardware maintenance and the maintenance of processes and procedures.
* Use and evolve test equipment, making use of the latest technologies, techniques and R&D project plans are.
* Analyse output data and report results to the wider team, including senior management.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Strong academic background with an appropriate engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
* Knowledge of the theoretical and practical workings of a modern automotive wind tunnel.
* Previous experience of wind tunnel testing in a Formula One environment / high level Motorsport environment is preferred.
* Working knowledge of control systems and wind tunnel instrumentation, understanding the physics and mechanics of the unit under test.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Possess a calm and considered approach to problem solving.
* Ability to integrate into engineering teams and establish excellent working relationships with colleagues.
* Be self-motivated and to motivate others to thrive in a challenging environment.
* Be results orientated and be confident in your decision-making skills.
