Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new and innovative role as an Assistant Practitioner, Band 4, to work alongside the Head and Neck Clinical Nurse Specialist Team based at Ysbyty Wrecsam Maelor. Main duties of the job The post holder will work as part of a designated Head and Neck Team, delivering evidence based high quality clinical care that focuses on the direct needs of the patient. The post holder will work under the direction and support of a Head and Neck CNS to implement the Head and Neck Delivery Plan for patients with head and neck issues. The Assistant Practitioner will manage a small defined caseload of patients under the supervision of the CNS and ensure effective communication with patients, carers, multidisciplinary team and the wider health and social care community. Person Specification Qualifications and/or Knowledge Essential To be educated to NVQ level 3 and be prepared to work towards diploma / level 4 or equivalent within 2 years to provide the theoretical knowledge as well as having the practical skills. Desirable Knowledge and understanding of Cancer and its consequences. Evidence of CPD Recognised communication qualification within 3 years. Knowledge of local policies/procedures and guidelines Experience Essential Significant experience of work within a health care setting. Experience and able to utilise all Microsoft packages including Excel, SharePoint. Previous relevant experience in a healthcare environment working in an indirect supervised role within an agreed scope of practice. Desirable Experience of working with patient complex needs resulting from a Cancer diagnosis. Experience of working at a higher level as a healthcare support worker. Experience of monitoring long term conditions. Experience of educating patients to manage their own condition.
