Job Title: Business Engagement Consultant
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week (1 FTE). Fixed term appointment to July 2027
Salary: £37,694 to £42,254 per annum (non-negotiable), Band 5
About The Post
Provide high-quality consultancy to all relevant stakeholders, particularly external organisations.
Play a key role in increasing employer engagement and commercial opportunities for students and the university.
To form extremely strong relationships internally and externally, to ensure a smooth and positive experience.
Initiate and manage a programme of Student Impact Projects (SiPS), find external organisations or businesses with suitable projects, secure academic and student recruitment and oversee the projects to completion.
Proactively build impactful relationships and partnerships with a wide variety of external organisations aligned to university strategies. Promote and develop the University's services offered by the Business Solutions Centre, including CPD.
Contribute to the design, implementation, and continual evaluation of clear and easy processes for the management of business engagement and commercial partnerships.
Provide effective and high-quality customer service at all times to establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with all stakeholders, establishing us as a university of choice for employer partners.
Design, facilitate and evaluate appropriate content to promote university opportunities to employers.
About The Team
The Business Engagement Team support local businesses by providing information and advice to access academic support of the University. Our aim is to be one of the key business support agencies in the region, providing a choice of knowledge exchange, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Our team is commercially focused to bring revenue into the University.
We are a small self-sufficient team with clear objectives with a focus on external engagement across the county. We value independent action within a team context and within the values of the university. We aspire to provide a friendly welcoming working environment but with a focus on team objectives.
About You
Knowledge and experience of managing projects and/or events.
Up to date knowledge of key government policies and statutory returns relevant to careers, employability, and enterprise.
Effective communication, both written and verbal with strong interpersonal skills
Excellent organisation skill with ability to priorities workload and manage multiple and competing priorities.
Analytical skills to support continual service analysis and evaluation
Confident presentation skills with ability to adapt depending on delivery mode, type of attendees and numbers.
Able to make decisions confidently and informed by evidence.
