We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Underwriter within our FI (Financial Institutions) team.

This is a great opportunity to join a team with long-standing, successful client relationships and define your career within FI underwriting. Surrounded by supportive, experienced colleagues, this market-facing role will provide full exposure across the underwriting lifecycle.
Your new role
1. Perform underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met.
2. Contribute to the recording and measurement of insurance risks to ensure accuracy and good practice.
3. Maintain relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners, and colleagues to increase exposure in the market.
4. Develop knowledge of market dynamics and market cycles to support business performance.
5. Underwrite insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and delegated underwriting authority to meet business objectives, including: negotiating rates, terms, and conditions; ensuring compliance; contributing to the business plan; supporting credit control.
6. Apply reinsurance programmes to minimize susceptibility to unknown risks.
7. Contribute to planning through research and project work.
8. Participate in meetings to develop strategy, share knowledge, and best practices.
About You
* Experience in Underwriting or support, ideally within Financial Lines.
* Good technical, analytical skills with data interpretation and trend identification abilities.
* Intermediate understanding of relevant software including Excel.
* Team player with collaborative skills and relationship-building ability.
* Flexible approach to adapt to changing business needs.
