THE LOCATION Billingham Forum is one of the most iconic leisure destinations in the Northeast. This wet and dry community facility has: 3 swimming pools, a health and fitness suite (including sauna and steam room facilities), squash courts, several meeting rooms/activity halls and onsite catering/vending facilities. The venue also boasts Go Climb, an interactive wall climbing experience and an Ice Arena. HOURS OF WORK You’ll be working an average of 37 hours a week, on a rotation of early and late shifts, agreed in advance across 7 days a week. THE ROLE This is a hybrid role requiring the postholder to act as a Keyholder and Leisure Assistant during the shift. This role will provide the successful candidates with an excellent career opportunity, with comprehensive training and development in the role of Relief Duty Manager in this uniquely designed and customer focused leisure centre. As the Key Holder, you will supervise all staff in the absence of the Duty Manager to ensure that the facility is adequately staffed on-shift. You will effectively deal with staffing issues and motivate the team to maintain excellent standards of performance, cleanliness and customer care. You will also liaise with customers to resolve complaints in a timely and professional manner. You will work closely with the Duty Manager throughout the shift and at the point of hand over, to ensure the operational transition/service continuity standards are maintained at all times. The Leisure Assistant aspect of this role sees you work as part of a team of Lifeguards monitoring the pool area and providing trained assistance to users in difficulty, including when necessary, administering First Aid. The role also involves providing excellent customer care, setting up activities (pool, dry sports, meeting/conference and major events) and other general duties, to ensure that the centre is clean and secure and operating to the high standards expected by our many customers and users. Applicants must hold or be willing to attain upon appointment: • A valid National Pool Lifeguard certificate and have an up-to-date training record. • A valid Pool Plant Operator’s certificate or be willing to obtain this relevant qualification. • First Aid at Work qualification We are committed to safeguarding and therefore these posts are subject to an enhanced DBS check. If successful, you must complete a Lifeguard competency assessment test.
