Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Strategy and Policy Specialist to join the Strategic Design and Transition Programme, focused on the recommendations of the Independent Water Commission’s report into the water sector and its regulation. This role will shape the future of the EA by considering options for the agency’s future structure and design, and developing a plan to continue protecting the environment while supporting sustainable growth.
Responsibilities
 * Provide high-quality, balanced and evidence-based advice to support future thinking in line with the IWC report recommendations, particularly the creation of a single water regulator.
 * Engage with colleagues across government, within the EA and other regulators to ensure collaborative development of policy thinking.
 * Champion constructive challenge and diverse thinking in a fast-moving working environment.
 * Assist with other projects and workstreams within the programme as required.
 * Contribute to a high-performing, agile programme team, creating conditions for resilience amid high demand and ambiguity.
Qualifications
 * Experience working with central government to develop policy, including collaboration with economists and scientists.
 * Strategic thinking and the ability to act strategically.
 * Excellent communication and engagement skills, able to translate complex or ambiguous issues into clear, targeted advice on short notice.
 * Experience working across boundaries and influencing at all levels.
Contract
Up to 12 months.
