Overview
Prospero Teaching is working with a secondary school in the Basingstoke area to recruit an experienced and driven Head of PE (QTS) for a September start. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated PE specialist to take the lead of a successful department and play a key role in shaping both curriculum delivery and student outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the PE department
* Deliver high‑quality PE lessons across KS3 and KS4
* Plan, monitor, and evaluate the PE curriculum
* Support and develop colleagues within the department
* Promote participation and engagement in sport and physical activity
* Organise extracurricular activities and school sports events
* Track student progress and implement strategies to raise attainment
* Maintain high behaviour expectations and a positive learning environment
* Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
Qualifications and Experience
* Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Strong subject knowledge in Physical Education
* Experience teaching PE at secondary level
* Previous leadership or middle leadership experience desirable
* Confident managing a department and supporting staff
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Passionate about sport, physical activity, and student development
* Committed to high standards and continuous improvement

* Working Pattern: Full‑time
* Pay Rate: £32,916 - £51,047 per annum
* Key Stages: KS3-KS4
* QTS required
* Secondary PE teaching experience essential
* Leadership experience beneficial
* Safeguarding training can be provided
