Overview
Bank Pharmacist position at HMP Pentonville, a male remand prison in London with a capacity of 1,200 inmates. The role is paid at a bank hourly rate of £38 and requires legal right to work in the UK.
Hours
Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert clinical advice on medicines and polypharmacy, ensuring safe, modern medicines management and optimisation for inmates.
* Deliver an integrated, safe, legal and high‑quality prison pharmacy service as part of a comprehensive healthcare package.
* Lead and inspire a team of pharmacy technicians and the wider healthcare team to maintain a positive working environment and support staff retention.
* Promote good prescribing practice and develop improved medicine management understanding across the prison healthcare team.
* Share information on pharmaceutical products, medicines management, optimisation, legislation, and general health education with patients and healthcare teams to keep them appropriately informed.
Qualifications
* GPhC registered Pharmacist.
* Availability to newly qualified pharmacists and beyond.
* Management and leadership experience (desirable).
* Procurement and audit experience (desirable).
* Vocational Master’s Degree in Pharmacy, including pre‑registration training.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Experience developing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Non‑judgemental and compassionate approach.
* Good IT skills and IT literacy.
* Ability to work within a busy environment.
