Our client firm’s history dates to 1777. Their clients range from some of the UK’s largest businesses and institutions, housebuilders and developers through to investors, professional partnerships, family offices, not-for-profit organisations and private individuals.
They are now looking to recruit a Financial Accountant, reporting into the Finance Manager, leading the team (with a dotted line to the Director of Finance). This newly created role will focus on statutory and partnership level accounting. The role will enable you to build your personal brand across our 70+ partnership group and provide subject matter expertise on their accounting requirements in a friendly, proactive and commercially astute way.
Responsibilities
* Dealing with partners starting/leaving, including drawings calculation, submissions to Companies House and Inland Revenue
* Preparation of annual partner reconciliations for current, capital and tax accounts
* Gathering information in relation to year end partner tax provisions and performing basic tax calculations
* Provision of information in relation to partner performance as part of the annual appraisal process
* Providing secretarial support to confidential partnership matters
* Monthly payroll, including adjustments
* Timely submissions to National Office of Statistics, Companies House and HMRC
* Maintaining filing systems
* Additional ad hoc duties as required
* Production of monthly management accounts, including full commentary on both overall and departmental performance
* Preparing monthly variance reports for HoDs and other user groups
* Assisting with preparation of statutory accounts under FRS102
* Preparation of audit files, including reconciliations of supporting schedules and dealing with auditors’ queries
* Budget and financial projections
* Preparation of the firm’s annual forecast, including monitoring and revision as required
* Regular meetings with cost budget holders
* Preparation and monitoring of rolling cashflow
* Providing subject matter expertise and guidance on reporting standards
Qualifications
* You will be a fully qualified Accountant with demonstrable experience of providing partnership accounting expertise within a legal practice
* You will have a good knowledge of UK accounting standards and the ability to distill this in a user-friendly manner to non-finance professionals
* You will thrive on being highly organised with excellent attention to detail
* A passion for people and providing excellent client care
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt your communication style to meet the needs of different audiences
* Excellent IT skills – knowledge of Elite 3E would be desirable, and a competent level of Microsoft Office including Excel, with an attitude for exploring how technology can streamline processes
