We are seeking a motivated individual to work as a substantive consultant in the Urology department to support our growing demand for urological services for our local population. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and expanding team dedicated to providing the best care for our patients. The post will commence on 1/10/2025. The trust has plans to rebuild the Watford site and establish a dedicated Urology Centre with outpatient clinics, diagnostic, and administrative support services, offering state-of-the-art facilities.
We aim to develop our renal and robotic surgery services, having acquired the CMR and Da Vinci robotic systems. We also plan to expand our female and functional urology services.
Main duties of the job
The post supports existing core urology services. A specialist interest in renal robotic surgery or female and functional urology is advantageous but not essential. Candidates with other subspecialist interests will also be considered if their skills match our department's needs. The successful candidate will participate in a 1 in 7 Consultant rota, with elective commitments canceled during this time. There is 24-hour middle-grade support. The team is cohesive and supportive, encouraging leadership opportunities.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will support core and specialist urology services based on expertise. You will participate in a 1 in 7 consultant rota at Watford. The role involves a 10-11 PA job plan with potential leadership opportunities. Mentoring may be available depending on experience. You will support clinical governance and participate in departmental teaching. Training and supervising registrars are integral to the department.
