We are seeking to appoint full time Lecturers to teach students with a range of needs such as PMLD, SLD and Autism. You will plan, develop, coordinate and implement individual curriculum programmes for students with profound and multiple learning difficulties, providing a holistic education programme, integrating the physical, academic, social and emotional needs of individual students.
You will possess a degree or equivalent qualification and preferably a Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector, or be willing to undertake teacher training. A specialist SEN qualification is desirable. You should have experience of providing teaching and learning support to students with ASD, SLD and PMLD in a Further Education environment and have good working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
These posts will initially be based at Uxbridge Campus, however in time it is anticipated you will also be required to work at Barra Hall, Hayes
DUTIES
Recruitment of Students
·Participate in open evenings and recruitment activities to ensure that potential applicants and students receive accurate information and guidance.
·Complete and contribute to the production of accurate information and fact sheets.
·Interview potential applicants and contribute to the School’s interviewing schedules.
·Contribute to the development, promotion and delivery of the School’s marketing and recruitment strategies.
Induction and Support for Students
·Carry out student inductions and contribute to the design of induction programmes.
·Carry out academic progress reviews, including the completion of necessary documents and formal reviews contributing to the Education, Health and Care Plan Processes.
·Where appropriate act as a named tutor and ensure the attendance, retention and achievement of students.
·Understand and keep up-to-date with student support and learning support arrangements, ensuring students have full information and making appropriate referrals.
·Where appropriate ensure that basic skills initial and diagnostic assessments, are undertaken and that students receive effective learning support.
·Ensure that resources within your subject area are kept up-to-date and accessible to students and other staff in liaison with the curriculum managers and the College’s Learning Resource Centres.
·Prepare students for employability, career progression and/or further education and training.
·Produce reports and attend events to provide information to parents/employers.
Qualifications:
·A degree/equivalent professional qualification in a relevant subject area
·Maths and English at Grade C/4 or equivalent, or willing to achieve
·Minimum Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector or willingness and ability to work towards one, supported by the College (e.g DIT, DET)**
Knowledge and Experience:
·Experience of teaching students with ASD, SLD and PMLD
·Experience of implementing curriculum development initiatives
·Experience of course evaluation
·Teaching experience in an FE setting
·Experience of implementing Team Teach, PECS, Makaton, TEACHH, CALM training
