Role
The successful candidates will create, deliver and adapt suitable non-subject specific learning/study skills support programmes for individual disabled students and those with learning differences, based on individual learning profiles and recommendations from Study Needs Assessments. A minimum caseload of 8 students is required. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, meeting regularly with allocated students to advise and assist with approaches and strategies for effective study and learning, including note-taking, planning, organisation, research skills, academic writing and examination preparation. The aim is to move students toward independent learning while respecting each student’s unique learning style and pace.

Responsibilities
* Deliver 1:1 tutor support within a clear framework based on recommendations from the Study Needs Assessment (SNA).
* Develop appropriate learning support materials tailored to each student’s needs.
* Set and monitor sessional objectives and provide formative feedback; tailor outcomes to students’ learning needs.
* Coach students in strategies for answering examination questions effectively.
* Plan work in accordance with ADSHE guidance and Accessibility Services procedures; prepare learning support plans in collaboration with students and relevant guidelines.
* Provide regular opportunities for students to check email, Blackboard, and other information sources; act on communications as necessary.
* Participate as a member of a 1:1 support worker team; attend mandatory meetings, share good practice, and coordinate with others to avoid duplication.
* Make decisions appropriately, following University procedures and policies.
* Address problems affecting the student’s learning experience with appropriate here-and-now learning support approaches.
* Encourage learners to develop their full potential, considering specific learning needs or wellbeing.
* Reflect on practice and revise learning support strategies within the Student Support Services.
* Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities as appropriate.

Essential Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
* Degree, teaching qualification or equivalent qualification/experience.
* Interest in becoming a professional member of PATOSS, BDA, ADSHE or Dyslexia Guild.
* Willingness to undertake mandatory AS training.
* Experience delivering a range of 1:1 language and learning study activities in Further or Higher Education.
* Excellent organisational, verbal and written communication skills; proficient IT skills.
* Experience building good relationships with staff and students; sensitivity to issues affecting disabled students and those with specific learning differences (SpLD).
* Familiarity with academic language, multiple subject areas, and learning styles/diversity in SpLD contexts.
* Understanding of data protection and confidentiality procedures.
* Flexibility to work throughout the year as required.
* Welsh language ability: Oral (spoken) and Written Welsh Level A1 or a demonstrated commitment to learn Welsh to this level.
Desirable
* Welsh language ability: Oral (spoken) and Written Welsh Level C1.
