Job Title: Burnley BID Warden (Security Officer)
Location: Burnley Town Centre
Reports To: Contract Manager / Operations Supervisor
Job Purpose
To provide a visible, proactive and reassuring presence in Burnley town centre, whilst delivering high-quality public-facing security and community support. The BID Warden plays a key role in maintaining safety, supporting enforcement of the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO), and acting as a vital liaison between businesses, the public, and partner agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Patrolling & Public Engagement
* Conduct high-visibility foot patrols throughout the BID area (minimum of scheduled patrols per shift to be completed)
* Wear branded uniform and body-worn video at all times.
* Provide reassurance and deterrence to reduce anti-social behaviour and crime.
* Offer assistance and a point of contact to businesses, visitors, and the public.
Incident Management & Reporting
* Respond to incidents reported via the BID radio network and company reporting systems.
* Support in handling issues such as shoplifting, street drinking, drug use, and begging.
* Log and report all incidents daily using the company reporting systems and tools (e.g. DISC, CRM, Timegate,Jotform)
* Submit accurate digital patrol logs daily through the app portal.
* Use the digital clocking system to record all patrols with time-stamped accuracy.
* Log SOS events through the body camera to record footage of incidents alongside reporting to enhance details collated.
Collaboration & Enforcement Support
* Work in close partnership with Burnley BID, Charter Walk security, Burnley Council, police, and CCTV teams to communicate clearly and effectively what is happening across the area.
* Share intelligence and support the enforcement of the PSPO, where appropriate
* Act as 'eyes and ears' on the ground, identifying and escalating community safety issues.
* Assist with witness statements and court proceedings where required.
Community Safety & Environment
* Report graffiti, vandalism, fly tipping and other environmental issues.
* Monitor ASB hotspots and provide visible presence during vulnerable times.
* Support the BID's Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) and secure data handling in line with GDPR.
Requirements
* Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence (required)
* Excellent communication and conflict management skills
* Experience in community-facing roles or town centre patrols preferred.
* Competency using radio communications, incident reporting software (e.g. DISC), and bodycams.
* Able to work weekends and bank holidays (10am–6pm; Sunday 10am–5pm)
* Smart and professional appearance; commitment to wearing uniform.
* Must carry SIA licence and company ID at all times.
