How you'll make a difference
Working in our Handyvan team, you will use your tradesman experience to complete a wide range of building repairs and gardening for households, schools and commercial properties across South Gloucestershire. Your key objective is to provide services that support older and vulnerable people so they feel safe and remain independent in their own homes.
What you will be doing
* Regularly, you will complete maintenance in residential homes such as plumbing repairs, carpentry, flooring, painting and decorating, fencing, decking repairs, shelving, flat pack furniture building or tiling and grouting.
* You will conduct work within schools and commercial buildings, offering a minor works maintenance service including window and door repairs, glazing and drainage.
* Where required, you will also support garden maintenance such as grass cutting and strimming, lawn care, hedge trimming, shrub pruning and patio repairs.
* Using your technical knowledge, you will carry out assessments of work environments in homes or offices including costing and invoicing for the work undertaken.
* It will be key for you to ensure that work is completed to required standards and that all statutory requirements and professional standards are met to secure the safety of staff and customers.
* You will ensure timely and accurate records are kept on work activities and be able to communicate effectively with external contractors and suppliers ensuring that value for money is obtained for the organisation.
What we need from you
* You must be a skilled craftsman with a City and Guilds trade qualification.
* We require you to have an in-depth working knowledge and experience of property maintenance and safe working practices including health and safety legislation as it relates to the operational tasks associated with building maintenance.
* You will have experience of face-to-face contact with the public within a working environment, showing competency in customer care.
* It is key that you have experience of meeting timebound deadlines, financial targets and costs in an operational team.
* It is essential that you can proficiently use a wide variety of hand and power tools associated with the building or electrical trade and have experience in using mobile working technologies such as hand-held devices.
* You will have a good level of competence in literacy and able to interpret information in a variety of formats including bespoke or standard IT systems, maps and specifications from paper or on hand-held technology.
* You need a driving licence and CPC to category C1E, no restrictions.
