Description
The department HVDC Engineering Plant Electrical Design manages the delivery of auxiliary power systems for HVDC stations. The design of this system is complex and involves coordination with internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include system design, selectivity studies, equipment specification, and cable systems. Equipment managed includes auxiliary transformers, switchgear, diesel generators, batteries, UPS, and cables.
This role is hybrid (2-3 days in the office) based in Glasgow or Birmingham, with some international travel for meetings, site supervision, and commissioning.
Please note we cannot provide visa support for this position.
How you’ll make an impact
* You will be part of a global team responsible for auxiliary power equipment delivery, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality outcomes.
* You will coordinate your team's tasks, and liaise with other departments, clients, and suppliers.
* You will oversee Auxiliary Power SLD, load calculations, equipment dimensioning, specifications, review supplier drawings, FAT, cable design, installation supervision, and commissioning.
* You will provide expertise on aligning HVDC Base Design with grid code and customer requirements.
Your background
* Several years of technical and leadership experience, including planning, delegation, and follow-up.
* Experience in auxiliary power, selectivity studies, or low voltage equipment installation/commissioning.
* Good knowledge of Grid Code, National Grid, and SSE customer requirements.
* Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
* Experience working in international teams or companies.
