The job description is quite comprehensive but suffers from poor formatting and some repetitive content. It uses HTML tags appropriately in some sections but inconsistently, and includes irrelevant or duplicated information, especially in the 'Key Qualifications' section, which repeats earlier content. To improve, I will clean up the formatting by properly nesting tags, remove duplicated content, and ensure the description is focused on the role's responsibilities and requirements without unrelated details. Here's the refined version:
Job Description:
The Group is at a pivotal stage in delivering against its strategy; becoming increasingly proactive, nimble, and efficient is key to ensuring we make good decisions to maintain what differentiates us in the market. The Risk strategy, enabled by the Prudential & Analytics (P&A) Platform, is key to creating this shift for the Group.
P&A ensures Regulatory compliance for all activities within its scope and transforms regulatory and analytical capabilities across key technology enablers including data, modelling, reporting, and infrastructure. The goal is to deliver regulatory requirements efficiently while simplifying our system landscape and reducing costs.
About this opportunity:
A great opportunity has arisen to join the P&A platform as a Lab Engineering Lead. You will oversee all aspects of the engineering lifecycle, from design to implementation and optimization, ensuring infrastructure supports critical regulatory, prudential, and risk analytics functions. You will collaborate with cloud architects, data scientists, and risk officers to deliver a robust, scalable, and compliant platform that meets the bank’s needs. The role involves shaping the vision for the Lab and setting strategic direction for engineering teams to demonstrate thought leadership across the entire lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Engineering Leadership: Lead the engineering team responsible for building and maintaining the end-to-end infrastructure, including transforming legacy platforms and managing GCP-based data infrastructure.
2. Cloud Infrastructure Design and Optimization: Design scalable, high-performance cloud infrastructure on GCP supporting real-time data processing, analytics, and compliance. Implement Infrastructure-as-Code practices using tools like Terraform.
3. End-to-End Engineering Delivery: Oversee project delivery from requirements to deployment, ensuring solutions align with risk management and analytics objectives. Collaborate with DevOps and security teams to automate pipelines and testing.
4. Data Infrastructure and Analytics Integration: Work with data scientists and risk analysts to build data pipelines supporting risk analytics, stress testing, and regulatory reporting, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance.
5. Security, Governance, and Compliance: Ensure infrastructure complies with regulations (GDPR, Basel III/IV, IFRS 9). Implement security controls, encryption, and auditing following DevSecOps principles.
6. Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration: Engage with product owners, risk teams, and architects to gather requirements and ensure alignment with cloud strategy and risk framework. Communicate progress to leadership.
7. Continuous Innovation and Improvement: Stay updated on GCP services and industry best practices. Drive adoption of new tools to enhance platform performance, security, and scalability.
Key Qualifications:
* Extensive experience leading cloud-based data platforms, preferably with GCP expertise.
* Deep understanding of cloud architecture, data engineering, and big data technologies (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub).
* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
* Experience with microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
* Knowledge of cloud infrastructure best practices and digital transformation.
* Familiarity with banking risk management and regulatory frameworks (optional but advantageous).
* Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
We offer:
* Generous pension contributions, annual bonus, share schemes, and flexible benefits.
* 30+ days holiday, wellbeing initiatives, parental leave policies.
