Overview
In the role of Planning Manager, you will operate independently and lead the planning team. You will identify planning scope, major constraints, and contract requirements, and guide the development of logical sequences and methodologies during tender processes. You will oversee the planning team in delivering key planning deliverables and lead planning strategies to achieve project success with a primary focus on technical MEP requirements.
Responsibilities
* Work independently or as part of the planning team.
* Identify planning scope, major constraints, contract requirements, major quantities, and factors affecting the programme.
* Tender: Lead collaborative development and agreement on logical sequences and methodologies; oversee the planning team; ensure the adoption of efficient design, procurement, and MEP construction strategies for successful delivery.
* Lead planning processes and oversee development of key deliverables such as programmes, planning philosophy, presentations, and reports. Guide planners in formulating Tender Programmes aligned with organisational goals. Drive effective planning strategies to achieve project success with a focus on technical MEP requirements.
* Contract: Provide strategic guidance during the contract stage; oversee the planning team in producing, managing, and maintaining the Contract Programme; ensure alignment with planning procedures and contribute to project success under the SBU Planning Lead and Delivery Project Director.
* Display and evaluate the project critical path; advise the project team of results and corrective actions; produce and maintain project baselines; execute the change control process as appropriate.
* Resource Management: Manage labour, equipment, and materials efficiently to meet objectives while minimizing costs and delays.
* Contract Management: Manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, monitor performance, and resolve contract-related issues.
* Data Analysis: Help the planning team produce project data and KPIs to track progress, identify deviations, and enable data-driven decisions.
* Training and Development: Provide leadership and mentorship to less experienced planners and personnel to foster professional growth and competence.
Qualifications and Experience
* Analytical and problem-solving capabilities; excellent data and process management; strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills; leadership and mentorship abilities.
* Proficient with project management tools and software (e.g., Excel, MS Project, Primavera P6 or ASTA).
* Extensive understanding of construction project management principles, methodologies, and best practices; expert in project scheduling and planning; ability to develop and manage complex project schedules using industry-standard tools.
* Expert in risk management for project programmes (e.g., TRA, QSRA).
* Understanding of financial aspects related to project planning, including budgeting, cost estimation, Earned Value Management, and decision-support analytics.
* Experience planning and managing a variety of MEP construction projects, including large-scale and complex ones; track record of successful project delivery.
* Experience in managing relationships with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
