About the Role
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Director of Engineering to join one of the UK's most progressive hospitality and property groups.
Reporting to the Director of Hotels, this key leadership role will oversee all engineering, maintenance and technical operations across an expanding portfolio of operating hotels, new PBSA developments, and major rebranding projects.
You will play a pivotal part in delivering best-in-class property standards, leading multiple site teams, and ensuring that engineering strategy, compliance, and performance meet the highest operational and guest-service expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People
* Provide strategic leadership to Maintenance Managers across hotels and PBSA sites, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
* Guide and mentor property engineering teams, identifying training needs, development opportunities and succession planning.
* Lead engineering delivery for new openings and rebranding projects, ensuring operational readiness and service excellence from day one.
* Build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including contractors, project teams and regulatory authorities.
Quality & Compliance
* Drive compliance with all statutory regulations, health and safety standards and sustainability goals.
* Oversee preventative maintenance, contractor management and asset life-cycle planning across the portfolio.
* Provide expert technical guidance on property systems, plant equipment and capital maintenance projects.
* Ensure all new developments comply with Building Safety Act and BSR requirements.
Commercial & Profitability
* Lead energy-efficiency and sustainability initiatives to reduce costs and environmental impact.
* Prepare and monitor engineering budgets for new openings and operational sites.
* Support business planning with accurate capital forecasts and long-term maintenance strategies.
About You
We're looking for a visionary engineering leader who thrives in a multi-site, fast-moving environment and has a proven background in hotels, PBSA or BTR sectors.
Essential Experience:
* 10+ years in senior multi-site engineering or maintenance leadership within hospitality and/or residential portfolios.
* Comprehensive understanding of Building Safety Act, H&S legislation and operational compliance.
* Strong commercial acumen with experience managing complex budgets.
* Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams and delivering large-scale engineering projects.
Desirable:
* Experience in Leading Groups comparable branded hotel environments.
* Pre-opening and rebranding experience.
* Relevant technical qualifications (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Legionella etc.).
