Job Summary: The Suicide Prevention Lead is a Trust-wide role which co-ordinates and leads Greater Manchester Mental Health's approaches to suicide prevention at both strategic and clinical levels. A key part of this role is to be responsible for the implementation of the Trust's Suicide prevention strategy and promoting this initiative, reporting to the Medical Director. The role acts as an ambassador for the Trust to connect with multiple stakeholders in clinical and corporate settings to support the development of a strategic approach to suicide prevention that encompasses a whole-system approach, and to contribute to and learn from research and developments in these areas.

Responsibilities

Person Specification
Essential
* Education / Qualifications: Recognised competency-based level 1/2/3/4 qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent demonstrable experience
* Experience: Considerable experience as a senior clinician in mental health; clinical expertise in suicide prevention; experience delivering large, complex projects; experience collaborating with a wide range of agencies including patients and carers; experience presenting at local, regional, and national conferences
* Knowledge: Theoretical knowledge base of suicide and clinical risk assessment; working knowledge of national nursing and mental health strategy and policy
Desirable
* Published research and papers of clinical significance
Skills / Abilities
* Demonstrates humility to hear others' experiences, curiosity to enquire and explore, and the ability to synthesise complex problems
* Ability to communicate with service users, carers, the public and other professionals
