Job Summary
Spring Tide is a Tier 4 Intensive Therapy Program based in Hove that treats Young People aged 10-18 with a diagnosed Eating Disorder. This permanent Consultant Psychiatrist role is part of the Sussex-wide CAMHS team, delivering 10 sessions per week using the Maudsley model. The program accepts up to 10 cases and referrals come from local CAMHS teams and the local community Eating Disorder Service (SFEDS).
Recruitment and Retention
Recruitment and Retention payment of £25,000, along with up to £8,000 relocation allowance. Payment schedule: £5,000 on appointment; £5,000 at 12‑month anniversary; £6,500 at 30‑month anniversary; £8,500 at 48‑month anniversary. Payments are pro‑rated for part‑time employees.
Main Duties
The role is based at Aldrington House, Hove, treating children and young people with serious mental health problems, including atypical and classic Anorexia/Nervosa. Service provision follows NICE-concordant evidence-based treatment. Responsibilities include specialist clinical assessments, psychiatric and physical investigations, collaboratively planning individualized treatment plans, and contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings.
Collaboration with nurses, family therapists, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, dieticians, assistant psychologists, and support workers is essential. The post works alongside other consultants and specialty doctors, participates in trust-wide networks and division and governance meetings, and provides cover for SFEDS during leaves, sickness and training.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical advice and support to services working with CYPs with eating disorders across Sussex.
* Ensure consistency of approach across the Trust and support the development of the Child and Young Person’s Eating Disorder service.
* Work with the Leadership Team and Provider Collaborative to identify suitable cases for step‑down and reduce length of stay.
* Join Steering Groups to shape strategic development, operational policies, resource management, access prioritisation, governance, outcomes, cross‑trust issues, research, and training.
* Engage in people participation by involving patients, carers and supporters in decision‑making and planning.
Qualifications – Essential
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Fully registered with the GMC and licensed to practise.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months.
* Approved clinician / RC status or able to achieve within 3 months.
* Excellent knowledge in the specialty, communication skills, and ability to manage clinical complexity.
* Ability to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
* Current UK professional registration.
Qualifications – Desirable
* Higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
* MRCPsych.
* Additional clinical qualifications.
* In good standing with GMC regarding warnings or conditions.
* Reflected on purpose of CPD and led clinical audits.

Salary & Contract
£109,725 to £145,478 per annum.
Grade: Consultant.
Contract: Permanent.
