Job Summary
We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic Consultant Radiologists to join our friendly team here at Dorset County Hospital. Do you have a specialist interest in Paediatric, Breast or Upper GI imaging? If so, we are looking for you! The Radiology Department at Dorset County Hospital is a progressive, patient‑focused department highly regarded by the clinical teams that use our services. It is a busy district general hospital department providing CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, interventional radiology and symptomatic breast services and plain film. The post holder will join a cohesive group of 15 substantive consultant radiologists.
Main Duties of the Job
* Contribute to the general workload of the department while developing or providing a sub‑specialist interest such as paediatrics, breast or cross‑sectional imaging.
* Elective reporting via an allocated worklist; workload varies with the length of reporting session and area of expertise.
* Encourage MDT involvement and provide time for MDT preparation.
* Cover non‑IR emergencies and report elective cross‑sectional cases until 20:00 weekdays and 09:00‑17:00 weekends as part of the on‑call rota (currently 1:12 with internal cover).

The department holds Quality Standard for Imaging Accreditation (QSI) and plays an essential role in the Trust’s strategic direction as part of the Dorset Imaging Clinical Network.
Person Specification
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date within 6 months of interview) or CESR or European Community Rights.
* Appropriate higher surgical/medical qualification.
Experience and Knowledge
* Evidence of the ability to manage the demands of a DGH‑based consultant radiologist.
* Significant and recent experience in the UK.
Current Skills and Abilities
* Experience in a broad range of radiology examinations and reporting (US, CT, MR).
* Evidence of clinical skills required to fulfil the specialty and sub‑specialty elements of the job as in the job description and technical specification.
Team Working and Service Development
* Experience of recent collaborative working in service development or improvement.
Clinical Governance
* Understanding and participation in clinical governance.
* Evidence of recent participation in relevant audit.
Management, Teaching and Communication
* Management training, organisational skills and strategic vision.
* Teaching and communication skills.
