Job Summary
Senior Data Analyst – HRA Digital – Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. Excellent data analysis, reporting and governance support the HRA’s Digital Transformation and Research Systems Programme. Working with the Head of Data Engineering and Agile team, you will analyse data to understand, interpret and predict patterns, create data products and practices, and provide data‑driven insights and decision‑making capabilities.
Responsibilities
* Apply advanced tools and techniques for data analysis and visualisation, including business information tools.
* Identify, collect and synthesise data requirements from a range of systems.
* Use advanced SQL and visualisation skills to manage, clean, abstract and aggregate data for analytical studies.
* Manipulate and link different data sets using Microsoft data tooling suite.
* Summarise and present data and conclusions in the most appropriate format for users.
* Support the Head of Data Engineering to promote strong data governance throughout the directorate and organisation.
* Lead discovery, understanding and documentation of business data and reporting requirements in collaboration with business analysts, product managers and data architects.
* Ensure all data structures are analysed, documented and aligned with business requirements.
* Own the main stakeholder relationships related to the data discipline.
* Analyse, understand and define data problems or opportunities, explore feasible options and define data‑driven solutions.
* Ensure data quality, consistency and compliance with industry standards.
* Participate in the alignment of data models with business process requirements.

Person Specification
* Qualifications (Essential)
o Professional qualification at degree level in a data‑related discipline, or equivalent industry experience and a portfolio of evidence demonstrating data warehousing, analysis and data management.
o Evidence of continued professional development.
* Knowledge, Skills & Expertise (Essential)
o Experience with data analytics and visualisation software such as Power BI.
o Expertise in using Microsoft data tooling, e.g. SQL Server, Power BI, Data Factory.
o Proven ability to develop, document and implement data analysis processes in complex digital landscapes.
o Strong data governance awareness and ability to promote it across an organisation.
o Demonstrable experience of presenting information to stakeholders and building professional networks.
o Commitment to inclusivity and valuing diversity.
* Desirable
o Understanding of the development life cycle and the Microsoft BI Stack.
o Understanding of good data governance requirements.
o Experience presenting information and planning multiple streams of data analysis work with competing deadlines.
