Senior Quantity Surveyor, Gateshead
Vertu Motors plc Group of Companies, are looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to be based at the Vertu Support Centre in Gateshead. The appointment is a key role and we look for the candidate to have drive and ambition to help elevate the standards of the department so that we can provide high class service to all thedealerships across our network. The role will be an integral part of the property team producing high quality information to allow the CEO and Group Strategy Director make important decisions which will directly impact the expansion of the business.
You will report to and work with Group Property Development Director based at the Support Centre in Gateshead, your work will be visible to the Senior Executive Team and for the right candidate this expose will lead to future career progression within the group. Whilst based in Gateshead, you will be expected to support our dealership network nationally. Key elements of the role are :-
* To produce accurate construction budgets for all property development projects.
* Produce monthly costs reports to accurately monitor the Property development Capital expenditure.
* Final Accounts reporting to the accounts team.
* Monitor actual construction cost data from past projects to improve the accuracy of the construction project budgets.
* Lead the tendering and procurement process on all construction project, coordinating with the PQS and Project Managers including large maintenance contracts.
* Lead on all QS tasks to advise the Project Managers on contract issues, valuation, variations and final accounts.
* Other responsibilities will be to mentor and coach the Assistant Quantity Surveyor who will working alongside you assisting in all quantity surveying activities.
We are looking for the successful candidate to be professional, capable of working on their own, highly motivated, and self-managed with excellent communication and team skills. We have a large portfolio of refurbishments and exiting small works projects around the country and you will play an instrumental role in managing the tender process and costs management / reporting to the highest of standards.
Ideally you will have a consultant or contractor background having worked as a Commercial Manager or Quantity Surveying for over 5 years with a high level of experience and able to demonstrate a successful track record with a good understanding of the Built Environment. Membership of the RICS is an advantageous.

Qualifications / Experience
* BSc(Hons) in Quantity Surveying
* Professionally Qualified - RICS.
* Contract Management (JCT D&B and Minor Works)
* Cost Management / reporting
* Change management and control
* Valuations
* Procurement & Estimating
* Excellent knowledge in Commercial Construction. Motor Retail experience advantageous but not essential.
* Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as different procurement routes, value management and value engineering.
