STEP Cognitive Behavioural Therapists for Psychosis
The Torbay South and West Devon Specialist Team for Early Psychosis (STEP) is lookingfor a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist for Psychosis. This post will cover thewhole locality area of Torbay, South and West Devon.
The principal purpose of the job is to improve thepsychological health & wellbeing of people within an identified Devonlocality.
The post holder will be part of a Specialist Team for EarlyPsychosis (STEP) service and will provide CBT interventions for people with afirst episode psychosis and for people with an At Risk Mental State (ARMS). Thepost holder will work with clients who have a range of complex mental healthrelated problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective.
The post holder will act as a lead specialist for STEP,providing professional clinical supervision to less experienced staff, trainees& students, and contributing to the leadership of the local service underthe direction of the Team Manager and Clinical Psychologist.
STEP provides a service for people between theages of 14 - 65 who are experiencing a First Episode of Psychosis (FEP) or AtRisk Mental States (ARMS).
Main duties of the job
1. Providing CBT for Psychosis to a caseload of 12 clientsper WTE as dictated by the evidence base.
2. Provide supervision and / or training to team colleaguesaround CBT informed practice and to support STEP colleagues training to achieveany qualifications in CBT
3. Ensuring the maintenance of standards of practiceaccording to the employer and any regulating, professional and accreditingbodies (eg NMC, HCPC, BPS, UKCP, BABCP), and keep up to date on newrecommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g. NHS plan,National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence).
4. Ensure clear professional objectives are identified,discussed and reviewed with team managers and other senior staff wherenecessary and as part of the professional development review and continuingprofessional development.
5. Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basisas agreed with Manager.
6. Maintain up to date specialist knowledge of latesttheoretical and service delivery models/developments.
7. Attend relevant conferences / workshops in line withidentified professional objectives.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working in mental health services.
* Skills in applying CBT and CBTp theory to work with individuals, couples, family systems, groups and organisations.
* Advanced skills in assessment, formulation, engagement and interventions.
* Knowledge and experience of the principles of Early Intervention in Psychosis Services and national targets.
* Experience of working with people with severe and complex mental health problems, using CBT as a significant part of your role.
* Experience of working in Early Intervention in psychosis services as a CBT therapist.
* Experience of teaching and training CBT and CBTp.
* Experience of running CBT groups and other low intensity interventions.
* Experience of supervising staff in using CBT.
* Completed clinical audits within a service.
Qualifications
* A registered qualification in one of the following at graduate diploma level in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or within a psychological profession.
* Specialist training in CBT
* Trained in provision of supervision for CBT.
Registration
* Registered and accredited with an appropriate recognised UK professional body (BABCP), or nearing the end of the process of acquiring this registration and accreditation.
* Accredited in CBT supervision.
