Senior Economic Development Officer – Sectors & Clusters
Location: Hybrid – 1–2 days in the office, with regular community engagement
Pay Rate: Circa £30 per hour PAYE / £38 per hour Umbrella
Contract: Interim Assignment
We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Economic Development Officer to help drive growth and innovation across key sectors in a forward-thinking local authority. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a central role in delivering the council’s economic development strategy, supporting creative enterprises, fostering innovation, and promoting inclusive growth for local communities. You’ll work within the Economic Development & Growth team, supporting the Strategic Lead coordinating programmes, partnerships, and projects that really make a difference.
Overview
* Lead and coordinate key sector projects, including initiatives within the council’s Cultural and Economic Growth strategies.
* Oversee activity for the Creative Enterprise Zone (CEZ), supporting creative businesses, workspace operators, and industry partners.
* Manage elements of affordable workspace delivery, including working with Planning teams on Section 106 contributions.
* Handle grant programmes, monitor budgets, and maintain strong engagement with stakeholders across regeneration, planning, and local enterprise.
* Build and strengthen partnerships across public, private, and community sectors to support growth in creative and innovation clusters.
* Monitor and evaluate project outcomes, reporting progress to senior officers and partners.
* Ensure local policy, planning, and delivery align to meet the needs of the creative economy and wider growth objectives.
Your skills : -
We’re looking for someone proactive, passionate about economic regeneration, and excited about supporting creative enterprise. You’ll bring:
* A strong understanding of London’s creative industries and the challenges they face.
* Experience in economic development, affordable workspace delivery, or sector-focused policy implementation.
* A proven ability to coordinate complex stakeholder networks and develop partnerships.
* Excellent written, analytical, and reporting skills, with confidence managing budgets and external funding streams.
* Knowledge of planning and Section 106 agreements is a bonus.
Working Arrangements:
This role is flexible, with 1–2 days in the office each week and regular time spent engaging with the local community as part of project delivery.
Interviews to take place as soon as possible with a view to a start soon thereafter.
