Cyber Security Analyst based in Cheltenham, offering a salary of £36,408 (including £2,658 non-concessionary payment). We support flexible working arrangements, including full-time, part-time, and compressed hours, with some home working possible depending on business needs.
About Us
GCHQ is an intelligence, cyber, and security agency dedicated to keeping the UK safe. We utilize advanced technology and partnerships to identify and disrupt threats, working alongside MI5 and MI6. Join us for varied, impactful work in an inclusive environment emphasizing teamwork.
The Role
You will work within a close-knit team to defend against cyber threats such as malware, insider threats, DDoS attacks, and phishing. Your day will involve reviewing recent events, analyzing alerts, logs, network traffic, and endpoint data using tools like Splunk, developing detection content, and using threat intelligence to enhance security. You may also support digital forensics during security incidents.
About You
You should have a passion for IT and cybersecurity, experience with scripting, knowledge of Windows and Linux, and familiarity with Python. Interest in AWS and Azure is desirable. Candidates must hold a relevant cybersecurity certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+) or have at least 6 months of cybersecurity experience. Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential.
Training and Development
We offer in-house and external training opportunities, including certifications from SANS and Offensive Security. You will be mentored and gain hands-on experience in cybersecurity, threat detection, and incident response, with opportunities to attend conferences and travel.
Rewards and Benefits
Starting salary of £36,408 plus benefits such as 25-30 days annual leave, performance recognition, season ticket loan, pension scheme, cycle scheme, on-site facilities, and parental leave.
Equal Opportunities
We value diversity and encourage applications from underrepresented groups, including women, ethnic minorities, disabled individuals, and neurodivergent persons. More info at our website.
Disability Confident
We are a Disability Confident Leader, committed to supporting disabled applicants through the recruitment process, including reasonable adjustments.
What to Expect
The recruitment process involves application review, virtual interviews, and a conditional offer. It may take 6-9 months, including vetting. We recommend continuing your current employment until the process concludes.
Before You Apply
You must be a British citizen or hold dual nationality. The role requires Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance. Applicants should consider residence, relocation costs, and application timing, as applications from outside the UK are not accepted. Please keep application details confidential.
