Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate, patient, and supportive KS2 Tutor to support a young person in Year 5 who is currently working at a Year 3 level. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child's educational journey and emotional well being.
Student Profile:
The young person experiences significant challenges in a traditional school setting and finds the environment overwhelming. They benefit from a calm, structured, and quiet learning space where they can feel safe and supported. The ideal tutor will help them build self-esteem, develop coping strategies, and work towards their academic goals at a pace that suits their needs.
As a Tutor, you will:
Create a calm, quiet, and structured learning environment that supports emotional safety
Build a trusting relationship with the young person to encourage engagement and confidence
Adapt lessons to meet the learner's current level (Year 3 curriculum), with a focus on English
Use creative and supportive strategies to help the student overcome barriers to learning
Promote self-esteem, resilience, and positive coping mechanisms through mentoring
Monitor progress and adjust teaching approaches to suit evolving needsAbout you:
Experience of working within the primary environment
Experience supporting children with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs
A nurturing and empathetic approach to teaching
Ability to create engaging, tailored learning plans
Strong communication and mentoring skills
Flexibility to deliver sessions during the week (timings can be agreed based on availability)Position - Tutor

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young peopleTo be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
Hold right to work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide references upon request
Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
