Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Manager within our SSE North Scotland business. The role involves leading project managers who oversee teams installing and constructing electrical power distribution and transmission systems from 11kV to 132kV. The focus is on delivering safe, profitable, timely, high-quality, and fit-for-purpose networks that enhance customer satisfaction and promote the company positively.
The Senior Project Manager will manage their projects while supervising and guiding multiple Project Managers responsible for diverse electrical network projects, including installation of power system components, cable systems, switchgear, transformers, busbars, relay panels, and associated equipment in substations operating at up to 132KV.
Key Responsibilities
* Report to the Operations Manager, lead multiple project managers and teams, and execute duties professionally to build confidence and promote business growth. Serve as a first-line problem solver.
* Provide leadership, guidance, and support to Project Managers and teams through direction, advice, and dedication to ensure successful project delivery.
* Ensure all procedures are followed, with health and safety being the top priority. Undertake site supervisor roles as required, including managing customer-appointed contractors and company subcontractors, in accordance with CDM regulations.
* Manage multiple projects concurrently, overseeing task allocation and team performance, and regularly appraise direct reports to foster development and improve performance.
* Control resources, including materials, equipment, and labor, for upcoming works across various projects.
* Maintain good commercial awareness and complete valuations against project scope.
* Ensure safety and proper maintenance of company property, including routine testing and timely reporting of issues.
* Produce as-built records, test results, updated drawings, and project reports.
Qualifications and Experience
* HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Operational knowledge of electrical power distribution systems.
* Site safety passport and experience working on CDM sites.
* SSSTS or SMSTS certification is desirable but not essential.
* Possession of SSE DNO authorization for PTW management or equivalent authorization from other DNOs.
