Summary
As a Financial Assessment Officer under the Care Act, your primary role is to conduct comprehensive financial assessments for individuals requiring social care support, covering both residential and non-residential services. This position is crucial in determining the financial contributions individuals must make towards their care services. It demands meticulous attention to detail, empathy, and strong analytical skills to ensure fair and accurate assessments in accordance with legislative guidelines. You will evaluate individuals' income, savings, assets, and liabilities to establish their eligibility for financial support under the Care Act and Herefordshire Council's Care and Support Charging Policy. Additionally, you will work to maximize benefit entitlements and provide access to independent financial information and advice for those undergoing financial assessments or with ongoing care needs.
Responsibilities
* Conduct accurate financial assessments and reassessments for Adult Social Care service users, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and statutory obligations.
* Identify and document Service Users’ Disability Related Expenditure, consulting with Adult Social Care Team Managers as needed.
* Investigate property issues and determine eligibility for Deferred Payment Applications.
* Maximize income for service users and the Council by providing benefit advice and assistance.
* Address service requests and queries, ensuring adherence to service standards, legislation, and operational procedures.
* Escalate complaints and potential safeguarding issues according to relevant procedures.
* Identify areas for service improvement, recommend changes, and implement agreed enhancements.
* Support system implementations, including conducting system testing and training staff on new processes.
Requirements
Essential Experience
* Experience in independently scheduling and prioritising work to meet service requirements.
* Proven customer service background with skills in conflict resolution, negotiation, and diplomacy.
* Experience in a customer-focused role within a fast-paced environment.
Essential Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level, NVQ Level 2, or equivalent experience in a similar environment.
* Full Driving Licence.

* Working hours: 37 hours per week, on-site 5 days a week.
* Location: Plough Lane, Hereford, Herefordshire, HR4 0LE.
