Location: The role is hybrid, whereby the role holder can take advantage of the our flexible working arrangements with a mix of working remotely, at home and working in an office environment. The teams are located in Birmingham, Edinburgh and Telford offices.

The role
We are seeking a senior finance leader to take ownership of financial reporting for the Group’s regulated life entities. This role requires a strategic thinker and strong operator who can confidently shape reporting outcomes, strengthen financial control, and lead delivery across multiple teams.
You will set high standards for technical quality, communication, and collaboration, ensuring our reporting is accurate, well‑controlled, and clearly articulated to senior stakeholders. Working closely with the Head of Entity Reporting, you will also play a central role in driving the team strategy, embedding best practice, and building a high‑performing culture across the wider finance organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical & Regulatory Reporting Leadership
1. Deliver quarterly, well‑controlled IFRS and Solvency II results to Group Reporting, ensuring robust analysis, challenge, and accuracy.
2. Lead the production of high‑quality solo Solvency II QRTs and statutory GAAP financial statements.
3. Own the entity results narrative, providing insightful explanations that demonstrate strong financial controllership and clear understanding of business drivers.
Governance, Risk & Assurance
4. Lead entity board reporting to support financial reporting.
5. Partner constructively with auditors, ensuring efficient execution of the audit based on robust controls and supporting information.
6. Provide authoritative technical insight through technical papers.
Leadership Across Finance
7. Drive cross‑team collaboration, creating a culture of accountability, clarity, and high standards.
8. Anticipate issues across the reporting cycle, intervening early to manage risk and ensure safe delivery.
9. Lead the operational deployment of pooled resources to meet the priorities of the entity reporting team.
Change & Continuous Improvement
10. Own local delivery of change initiatives (including regulatory change), ensuring reporting processes are well understood, tested, and embedded safely.
11. Simplify and improve processes, embedding efficient, scalable practices that stand up to external scrutiny.
12. Bring external insight and industry best practice to shape the function for the future.
What are we looking for?
Essential Experience & Capability
13. Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with substantial post‑qualification experience in financial services.
14. Strong technical expertise in IFRS, UK GAAP, and Solvency II reporting, able to provide confident, authoritative guidance and challenge.
15. Proven ability to deliver high‑quality reporting under pressure, managing complex timelines while maintaining rigour.
Leadership & Influence
16. Demonstrable track record of leading finance teams through uncertainty, transformation, and regulatory change.
17. Strong communicator with the ability to influence senior leaders, challenge assumptions, and drive alignment across teams.
18. Experience shaping the direction of a finance function—bringing clarity, structure, and strategic insight.

19. Ability to anticipate reporting, resourcing, and regulatory challenges on a 1–3 year horizon.
20. Brings external perspectives and industry insight to strengthen our operating model and reporting quality.
