<div><h3>Clinical Team Leader – Community Mental Health</h3><p>The closing date is 25 June 2026.</p><p>We are looking for candidates with robust clinical expertise who can demonstrate progressive skills in leadership and management. The role is for the Brent Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. The successful applicant will take day‑to‑day clinical and team management responsibility at team level, use performance management systems, work in collaboration with the Operational Team Manager, Clinical Leads / Senior Practitioners and have close working relationships with the Inpatient Service and HTT.</p><p>Applicants must be registered nurses with experience working in multidisciplinary teams caring for adults within the mental health secondary care sector. Experience in community mental health and ideally knowledge of a CMHT is required. The role is conditional upon successful completion of Therapeutic Management of Violence and Aggression (TMVA) training, resuscitation training and CPR.</p><h3>Job Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Work within the multidisciplinary team structure of the CMHT to provide creative contact and support to adults who experience severe and enduring mental health problems.</li><li>Maintain small caseload and coordinate day‑to‑day clinical activities, ensuring clinical priorities are set and high standards of care are maintained.</li><li>Supervise and support members of the clinical staff, providing expertise on care coordination and statutory duties.</li><li>Provide strong clinical leadership, working closely with care coordinators, ensuring continual evidence‑based practice.</li><li>Ensure data/performance requirements of the CMHT are met and allocate caseloads appropriately, considering service user needs and team expertise.</li></ul><h3>About Us</h3><p>Brent CMHT is an established team with a friendly, supportive culture, strong emphasis on training and professional development, and a commitment to community transformation.</p><h3>The Successful Applicant</h3><p>The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as the best way to protect your colleague, patients and service users.</p><h3>Person Specification</h3><h3>Education & Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Professional qualification in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, or Occupational Therapy.</li><li>Evidence of post‑qualification training relevant to the role.</li><li>Certificate in Leadership and Management.</li><li>Relevant professional qualification/training e.g. psychosocial intervention, counselling, family therapy.</li></ul><h3>Experience</h3><ul><li>Extensive experience working in a mental health community setting.</li><li>Experience working within the CMHT delivery model.</li><li>Experience with people experiencing psychosis.</li><li>Supervising/mentoring students or junior staff.</li><li>Significant experience of Care Management/Care Coordination under CPA guidelines.</li><li>Team player with experience of multi‑disciplinary collaboration.</li><li>Experience of dual diagnosis work.</li><li>Experience of relapse prevention work.</li></ul><h3>Knowledge and Skills</h3><ul><li>Sound knowledge of CMHT principles and practice.</li><li>Knowledge of relapse prevention, psychosocial intervention and assertive outreach model.</li><li>Extensive knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and amendments (2007), Code of Practice and related legislation.</li><li>Knowledge of the Children Act 1989.</li><li>Ability to conduct research/audit and implement evidence‑based practice.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal relationships, diplomacy and communication skills, especially in handover and protocols.</li><li>Strong persuasive skills, motivating staff and engaging service users creatively.</li><li>Understanding of mental health service delivery to a diverse multi‑ethnic population in an inner‑city area.</li><li>Flexibility and time‑management, ability to prioritise conflicting demands.</li><li>Good clinical skills in risk assessment, care planning and coordination.</li><li>Knowledge of responsibilities under the Community Care Act 2014.</li><li>Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office.</li></ul><h3>Disclosure and Barring Service Check</h3><p>This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.</p><p>Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust</p></div>
