Job Title: Laboratory Technician Assessor
Salary: £30,000-£34,000
Location: Hybrid / Remote with National Travel across England
About the Role
As a Laboratory Technician Assessor, you will deliver high‑quality workplace assessment and learner support to apprentices, ensuring excellent progression, achievement, and successful completion of apprenticeship programmes. You will work closely with learners, employers, tutors, and internal quality teams to deliver a consistent, engaging, and compliant learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct workplace competency assessments and provide developmental feedback to learners.
* Deliver learner inductions, initial assessments, and identify support needs.
* Support apprentices to build knowledge, skills, and behaviours throughout their programme.
* Monitor learner progress through e‑portfolio and learner management systems.
* Complete learner reviews and maintain accurate, compliant documentation.
* Support learners in preparation for assignments, exams, and End Point Assessment (EPA).
* Review and monitor off‑job training records to ensure compliance and progress.
* Work collaboratively with employers to plan and deliver effective apprenticeship training.
* Participate in internal quality assurance, standardisation, and moderation activities.
* Use digital learning tools and remote delivery methods to enhance learner experience.
* Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, equality, diversity, and inclusion at all times.
* Maintain CPD and continuously improve assessment practice.
What They Are Looking For
Essential
* Industry‑relevant qualification at Level 3 or above (e.g. City & Guilds / BTEC or equivalent)
* Assessor qualification (TAQA/A Units or equivalent), or willingness to work towards it
* Significant experience in a laboratory technician or scientist role
* Experience assessing or evaluating work against set standards
* Strong understanding of Health & Safety, Safeguarding, and Equality & Diversity
* Evidence of recent Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
Desirable
* Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification
* Experience working within apprenticeship delivery
* Understanding of Ofsted inspection framework
* Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001 and Matrix Standard
* Experience using e‑portfolio systems such as Smart Assessor, OneFile or Bud

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check and requires regular travel across England.
