Data & Automation Engineer

About Us

At Mercedes-Benz Cars, we’re passionate about what we do. Whether we’re exploring ways to make motoring more sustainable, or pushing the boundaries of technology, innovation underpins everything we do.

It’s an exciting time to join us, why not be part of the journey?

How you’ll play your part

We’re looking for someone who is agile and a team player, who understands end‐to‐end (Data, ETL, Visualisation) data solutions and has excellent understanding of IT Data processes and solutions.

In this role you’ll design, manage, and enhance the Data Analytics Platform by delivering secure, automated, and reliable data pipelines that enable scalable business intelligence, analytics consumption, and data-driven operations across all MBUK business units.

What you’ll do:

· Design and run scalable, automated data pipelines that transform raw data into high-quality, analytics- and ML-ready datasets.

· Optimise and automate data pipelines and integrations, applying AI-driven automation where it adds real value in partnership with business stakeholders.

· Design and deliver business-ready data models and datasets, building end-to-end solutions across data modelling (DWH/Lakehouse), ingestion and ETL/ELT pipelines.

· Own the day-to-day health of data pipelines, quickly resolving issues, strengthening monitoring and alerts, and proactively preventing failures before they happen.

· Continuously improve data pipeline and data flow performance, optimising loads, queries and reports while tracking reliability against SLAs and sharing insights with stakeholders.

· Support and enhance data governance processes, embedding automation and AI across areas such as data archiving, masking, versioning and security to ensure compliance and efficiency.

· Collaborate closely with architects, application teams and developers to deliver well-tested, low-impact releases, supporting robust CI/CD processes that meet data governance and quality standards.

What you’ll bring:

· Experience designing and delivering data solutions in complex cloud and on-prem environments.

· Strong data engineering skills, including advanced SQL, data modelling and data warehousing.

· Hands-on experience with modern data integration tools such as Azure Data Factory and Databricks.

· Proven ability to integrate data with BI platforms and work across technical and business teams.

· Exposure to AI/ML initiatives, with an understanding of practical LLM use cases in data workflows.

· A proactive self-starter who takes ownership and delivers end-to-end solutions.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, turning business needs into effective data solutions.

· Clear communicator, comfortable working in Agile, DevOps-led and international teams.

At Mercedes-Benz, we operate with integrity and therefore you are required to maintain ethical standards in accordance with our polices and adhere to the Company's Compliance Guidelines and Policies including Anti-Bribery and all relevant competition law.

What’s in it for you

As well as the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, with a great team and culture, we’ll offer you a competitive salary and discretionary bonus structure. We also hope you’ll love our products as much as we do, with access to our colleague car schemes. On top of that, you’ll be able to join our pension scheme and you’ll get a flexible benefit pot that can be used to find the benefits that are right for you. We are pleased to be able to offer a hybrid working approach – achieving a great balance between remote and office working.

We’re here to support you – we offer access to colleague wellbeing resources, including an Employee Assistance Programme and Mental health First Aiders, as well as flexible opportunities to support work life balance. We’ll also encourage your development, with the training and knowledge you need to reach your potential.
